East Lake Meadows: A public housing story virtual watch party

A new documentary I worked on is coming to PBS, today, March 24

Tonight at 8pm on television and online, PBS will be debuting the latest film from executive producer Ken Burns, East Lake Meadows: A Public Housing Story.

The documentary is directed and produced by the dynamic duo of Sarah Burns and David McMahon, the duo behind 2012’s The Central Park Five documentary, the predecessor to Netflix’s 2019 Emmy winning hit When They See Us.

The film focuses on the history of the Eastlake Meadows public housing project also known as ‘Little Vietnam’ and its revitalization into what it is today.

I’m happy to say that I am an associate producer on the film and had an opportunity to work alongside Sara and Dave, in addition to the wonderful Stephanie Jenkins, Tim McAleer, Buddy Squires, Jared Ames, Greg Linton and Eva Jane Buckley.

This is the first mainstream documentary on the infamous housing project and is the first in a long year focusing on housing across America. The film focuses on the history of the Eastlake Meadows public housing project also known as ‘Little Vietnam’ and its revitalization into what it is today.

Unfortunately due to the coronavirus, all of the plans for a watch night were scrapped, so I’m hosting an online watch nite instead. So instead, I’m hosting a virtual watch party of the film. I will be live tweeting about the film (@iamkingwilliams) and hosting an IG live chat afterwards on my account (@iamkingwilliams), using the hashtag #eastlakemeadows.
